Introduction

About e-VidyaBharati & e-AarogyaBharati (e-VBAB) Project
The e-VBAB project is an initiative of Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India, to offer tele-education and tele-medicine services to African countries. These services are offered free of cost. The e-VidyaBharati portal aims to offer online education to African Learners and was formally launched in October 2019 with SWAYAM Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) courses. The portal can be accessed using url: www.ilearn.gov.in.

Currently Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with 19 African countries for participation in e-VBAB project namely, Benin, Comoros, Cote d’Ivore, DRC, Eritrea, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Gambia, Guinea, Seychelles, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia, Somalia, Nigeria. More than 400 SWAYAM course were offered through iLearn portal of e-VBAB project. The offered courses are from a variety of disciplines namely, Art and Humanities, Computer, IT, Engineering, Commerce, Management, Law, Maths and Sciences, Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Languages.

About SWAYAM MOOC Courses
SWAYAM is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of New Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.

Courses delivered through SWAYAM are available free of cost to the learners, however learners wanting a SWAYAM certificate are required to register for the final proctored exam, that come at a fee and attend in-person at designated centres on specified dates. Eligibility for the certificate will be announced on the course page and learners will get certificates only if this criteria is matched. Universities/colleges approving credit transfer for these courses can use the marks/certificate obtained in these courses for the same.

National Testing Agency (NTA)
NTA has been established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India (GoI), as an independent, autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization, under Society Registration Act 1860, for conducting efficient, transparent and international standards tests, in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions. The NTA has been given the responsibility to conduct Online Based Test following Remote Proctoring on some of the courses offered under e-VBAB programme. The NTA has launched a website http://measwayam.nta.ac.in wherein information/Notices etc., regarding e-VBAB Test shall be displayed.
